I'm Finally Back!!!

I can't believe I ignored my Blog for over a year! My Blog was ignored with good reason though.....my Etsy Shop exploded and has taken up a good part of my life. I also take care of my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter, Olivia, while her parents work which also takes up a good portion of my life. My husband also probably feels a bit neglected, poor guy watches me crochet daily and doesn't complain a bit!

I promised myself that I would get my Blog up and running again for 2012 and I'm proud that I've reached that goal ahead of schedule!!! YAY me!!!! My next goal is to post on my Blog weekly. I'll be offering free patterns, previews of new creations, pictures of my creations in use, deals on new creations and Coupon Codes along with life's daily trials and tribulations.

With that said I want to share a picture of one of my creations in use. I was totally blown away by this picture! This set was initially a custom order but once I finished it I decided I needed to put it in my Shop.  Since my photography skills are horrible (to say the least!) I didn't know if it would sell with the pictures I took myself.  Low and behold a talented photographer purchased the set and created this beautiful image! I was ecstatic that I was able to use this image in my Shop. A HUGE thank you goes out to Barefoot Photography by Tina Doane.    Check out Tina's Facebook Page if you want to see some amazing images.  Her images are creative and absolutely beautiful!!!

I just LOVE custom orders!

I'm absolutely thrilled when I get a great custom order like the one I shipped this week. I loved being able to work with bright colors and have some fun creating great props. School will be over soon which means my granddaughter won't be spending as much time with me. Although I'll miss spending my days with her it will allow me more time to create.

New Creations that I LOVE!!

These great cotton diaper covers are available in my Etsy Shop with a low introductory price of $25.00 for the set. I made these diaper covers less bulky than my previous cotton covers and I'm offering them in sets that include a color for a newborn boy and girl. Keep an eye out for additional sets in my Etsy Shop. If you'd like a specific color all you need to do is request it.

I love Robin's Egg Blue and I LOVE this set.

This wonderful Elf hat hasn't been listed in my Etsy Shop yet but it'll be there soon!

Navy Blue, one of my favorite colors!

I've been working on some new creations for my Etsy Shop the past few weeks. I've begun adding photo props to my Shop which are high quality yet reasonably priced. I love the look of a diaper cover on a precious little newborn. The diaper covers in my shop cover a newborn's diaper perfectly even at the legs plus the cover is adjustable. Diaper covers are wonderful as photo props and they're great for those hot months when a t-shirt and a diaper cover would be perfect. Most diaper covers that I'll be adding to my shop will have a matching hat and I will be adding money saving photo prop sets to my shop over the next several days. I love Navy Blue, it's such a crisp color against a light background.
The flower on this hat is new to my Shop. This flower has two sets of petals, one behind the other and is sewn onto the hat. The beanie is a trendy little shell beanie that is absolutely stunning for the fall and winter. This hat matches the Navy Blue Diaper Cover and is a great matching set. Later this week I'll be adding a matching Elf Hat.

I absolutely adore Robin's Egg Blue for little girls. This hat is made from super soft cotton yarn and has an adorable double pink flower.

I'm offering a Sale on this package in my Etsy Shop, Creative Dragonfly.
This adorable Navy Blue Cocoon is great as a photo prop for little boys.

I was MIA but I'm back with new creations........

I know I've been MIA lately but it was with good reason......I've been busy with orders, my granddaughter, being sick with my granddaughter (and watching a lot of Barney) and working on new creations for my Etsy Shop. Here are just a couple of the new creations that will be listed in my shop soon. I'm extremely fortunate that I met a wonderful photographer through my daughter. Julie Paisley is a WONDERFUL photographer, I love her work!! You can check out her work at Julie Paisley Photography; I'm sure you'll fall in love her fantastic work just as I did. Julie is responsible for these fabulous pictures of this adorable little newborn in some of my creations.

Get Ready for a Giveaway!

I love the color Cranberry! I love Cranberry even more when it's paired with a great contrast color like a soft off-white. This lovely hat will be in my Etsy Shop tomorrow.

I always wonder what my customers would like to see in my shop so I thought I'd ask. I'm going to be running a giveaway in the next couple weeks and everyone will be a winner. Start thinking about colors and hat decorations that you'd like to see in my shop or any other crocheted item you'd like to see in my shop. The details of the giveaway will be posted next week.

I'm looking forward to everyone's ideas!

Spring is almost here!

Alright, I know Spring isn't almost here but it's nice to keep positive thoughts. I've been working hard on completing custom orders and I've finally found some time to work on new creations. Here's a sneak peek at one of my new hats. It'll still keep your little ones warm through the rest of the winter but it adds a little Spring color to their wardrobe plus it can be worn right through Spring.

Little Boys and Foam Heads...........

I sometimes feel as though I only make hats for little girls so I've been trying to make more hats for little boys lately. This steel blue and white hat could probably be worn by a little girl or little boy but in my mind it's for a little boy.

Now on to the foam head issue. I purchased a couple foam heads to use as models for my hats rather then using a styrofoam ball to model my hats. I'm just not sure about these heads though. They certainly showcase the hat better but I'd much rather have a real model. Olivia just isn't in to wearing hats or modeling them so I suppose I'm stuck with a foam head.

Subdued Colors

I absolutely adore bright, vibrant colors but I realize not everyone loves those same colors. I've been trying my best to use more subdued colors for my creations lately. Here's one of my newest creations. This beautiful Earflap Hat is brown, light yellow and Robin's egg blue. A little boy or girl would look adorable in this cute little hat.

Fate

I'm a strong believer in fate and today proved that I'm right to believe in fate. I left the house early today all by myself to mail an order at the post office and head off to a store in Jacksonville to purchase yarn for more creations. Once I got to the store I discovered it was CLOSED. It was just open a couple weeks ago!!! I thought I was losing my mind so I called my husband, he checked online and nope, that store is no longer listed. What's funny is I checked the site online a few days ago and they listed that store on their website. Off I went to another store that I haven't been to in a few months and low and behold they had exactly what I was looking for plus it was on sale! Now, that's fate.........I had my heart set on the first store and that was a bust but the store I hadn't thought of for yarn had it. Needless to say my morning turned out just perfect!

It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is in a short week and a half and right behind Thanksgiving is Christmas. Where did the year go? I think this hat would make a great winter hat for a little girl or a wonderful addition to her Christmas Day wardrobe.

My Monday and My Model

Olivia and I started our day out with a brisk walk and I can't emphasize brisk enough. Neither one of us had a jacket on, the wind was blowing and it was a cold N.E. Florida morning. We shortened our walk and skipped the playground; tomorrow we'll wear jackets.

Olivia decided to "model" some socks on her arms. She loves socks for some reason. I think her love of socks may be genetic, her mother seems to love them too. She's a wonderful sock model isn't she? I figured if she's going to model socks maybe she could model a couple of my hats. Hat modeling didn't go as well as sock modeling but I'm not giving up.

Look at those baby blues!
I love this picture!
